Shaker Rapid Transit

Two RTA light rail lines connect Shaker Heights, Shaker Square and downtown Cleveland. Both lines stop at the Square. The Square is just a 15 minute "Rapid" ride from downtown.

  • The Green Line starts downtown, goes east to the Square and continues on Shaker Boulevard to Green Road in Shaker Heights.

  • The Blue Line starts downtown, goes east to the Square and continues southeast on Van Aken Blvd. to Warrensville Center and Chagrin Roads.

East and west-bound "Rapids" pass at the Shaker Square stop  >

There are change-making machines and toll attendants downtown. Otherwise exact change is required on exit. Downtown also has low price Senior Citizen/Disabled/Child day passes.

Coming to the Square from downtown

At Tower City (on Public Square) take either the Blue Line or Green Line Rapid Transit. Both lines stop at the Square. The trip is only 15 minutes.

Coming to the Square from the airport

Take the Rapid inside the Cleveland-Hopkins airport terminal. Exit downtown and walk to  the other platform and take a Green or Blue Line Rapid to the Square.

Going west to downtown and the airport

Shaker Square residents can use "the Rapid" to get downtown for work in only 15 minutes. Many use the Rapid to get to football or baseball games. Some will transfer and continue on a Red Line Rapid to Cleveland's west side, perhaps to its last stop -inside the terminal at Cleveland-Hopkins Airport.
