A STUDENT'S GUIDE TO SHAKER SQUARE

June 27, 2008

For years I've served as a vounteer, building this website with facts, news and views of the Shaker Square neighborhood, where I've lived for more than 15 years. So I'm glad to tell you about the work of two other website volunteers: Maria King and Amy Murdoch.

Maria and Amy are students at Hawken, an independent day school  in Gates Mills.

As their Senior Project they've just published a site: A Student's Guide to Shaker Square.

They've done a great job. Good photos, restaurant reviews, and lively writing.

I hope all the stores and restaurants they've described so well are sending this "dynamic duo" gift certificates for their graduation.

Maria lives in Cleveland Heights. She's been coming to the Square for years, and so have her parents and grandparents. She'll be going to Tufts University this fall.

Amy, who lives in Solon, found the Square through Maria and other friends and has been coming though all of high school. This fall she starts at Carleton College.

Thanks again Maria King and Amy Murdoch for "A Students Guide to Shaker Square."

It's good to know that young people are still coming to the Square for Yours Truly, SASA, Playmatters and more — the way their parents (and grandparents) came here for Miller Drug, Stouffers, Wade Records and the Colony Theater.
