It you look closely at your
monthly bill from the Illuminating Company you will find that you
pay the Illuminating Company for delivering your electricity and
a second company, your Electric Generation Supplier, for the power you
used. The name of your Electric Generation Supplier
and their charges are on the right side of the front page of your bill.

You can select your supplier. A state of Ohio
website will help you make that choice.
The City of Cleveland chose
Sustainable Ohio Public Energy Council (SOPEC) as the
electric supplier for city residents. There are two SOPEC
options: a rate for 100% wind-generated electricity (6.302
cents/kWh); and a lower rate for electricity generated in
more standard ways (5.948 cents/kWh).
For SOPEC/AEP Online access:

Or, call the SOPEC/AEP Energy Customer Care Team toll free
at 1-888-733-8512; hours of operation: Monday - Friday from
8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET.
The change will take one or two billing cycles to happen.
Your monthly bills will still be from The Illuminating
Company (mailed or emailed). You will pay the way you have
been paying. About half your bill will still be the
Illuminating Company's charges for delivering your
electricity.
For Cleveland residents who
were not mailed a form to change supplier, and for those who
received a form and did not respond, here's how you can make
this change by phone.
This change is optional and is for Cleveland
residents only.
If Energy Harbor LLC is your electric supplier, we don't
suggest changing.
You will need
your 20-digit Illuminating Company Customer Number. It shows on
your Illuminating Company printed bill on page 1, on the
right, shown as two 10-digit numbers 0000000000 0000000000. |
