1929 - The Square's first Christmas
The December 21, 1929 Plain Dealer ran this picture saying it was the
Square's first Christmas and 4,000 lights were used by engineers at GE's
Nela Park labs.

outside of downtown.

2002 - the Square at Christmas time
Patrick Shepard took this picture looking south-east from the roof
of his apartment building just west of the Square. Shaker
Square was then owned by the company that had redeveloped it in 2000.
2006 Christmas Tree Lighting

The Coral Company bought the Square in 2004. Its first
years of ownership offered Christmas Tree lighting celebrations, with
local TV personalities, music and singing.
They have ended.

Patrick Shepard took this picture looking east at the northern half
of the Square from the roof of the apartment building just west of the
Square.
2010 Christmas Trees at the Square
This may have been the last year the Square was well
decorated.
