1929 - The Square's first Christmas

The December 21, 1929 Plain Dealer ran this picture saying it was the Square's first Christmas and 4,000 lights were used by engineers at GE's Nela Park labs.

From the Cleveland Memory collection at CSU. Published in the Plain Dealer in 1948. This store had opened in September and was Halle's first Cleveland-area store
outside of downtown.

1977 Christmas Celebration

From a Channel 5 (ABC) video showing Dorothy Fuldheim, then 84. a television news pioneer who lived in Shaker Towers, east of the Square.

2002  -  the Square at Christmas time

Patrick Shepard took this picture looking south-east from the roof of his apartment building just west of the Square. Shaker Square was then owned by the company that had redeveloped it in 2000.

2006 Christmas Tree Lighting

The Coral Company bought the Square in 2004. Its first years of ownership offered Christmas Tree lighting celebrations, with local TV personalities, music and singing.
They have ended.
