George had been active in SHAD for many years and its president for several years when Reid Robbins, its long-time Executive Director died in January 2007. George had turned over leadership to a new president. He remained very active as a way to help deal with the transition to a new director. He helped to orient the new board (I was one of them.) and particpated in each meeting.

Without the restructuring of SHAD he had planned and the sale of the in-distress Livingston Apartments, SHAD might not have survived those years.
